retro crafts!

ok on this post i am going to post pics of past stuff i have done and actually have pics of!

this was my fist venture into chocolate/candy coating. i made these for mothers day (obviously!). this was a personal sized tray for just my husbands mom but i made a GIANT tray for all the other moms at the family get together. these were such a hit im asked to make them for special occasions all the time!

this is an idea that i got from a lady that was on a martha stewart show. it was VERY time consuming and a little expensive!

not really sure where i got this idea from. i know it was a post on craftzine.com or something like that. the orginal idea was just stripes and stuff to make it look abstract or something. i read the post a few weeks before christmas and i came up wit this!

again not sure where i got this idea from but it was a link on a blog. SUPER easy to make. i made all of these into beads...so i still havent done anything with them yet!

chris and i bought all white dinner ware for just our every day eatting. its just TOO boring for me so i have started doing this to all of the pieces. who knows when i will get it all done. hahaha i only have three pieces done. the pretty one with the bird i have already broken! :( i will get them done someday. i got the idea from martha stewart!

this is a baby blanket that i am making for my uncle joey. im not really sure if im done with it or not. its free hand embroidery. so the back of the blanket is just a MESS so im wondering if i should put a layer of really thin batting and then close it all up with a nice soft piece of fleece or something to match the other fabric. what to do! any opinions?!

under construction

please excuse the mess right now...when i made my giant post lastnight the width of my posting area caused some of my pictures to be cut in half. so i had to put up a generic template for now. so everything will look right soon!

amazing potat-wows

i dont know what made me try this but i did and the end results are AMAZING.

i got the roto-slicer kitchenaid attachment for my wedding shower and i used it to shred up some cabbage for egg rolls and thats it. i had a bag of potatoes sitting around that needed to be used so i thought...hmmm...maybe i should use my slicer thing and fry them up! personally i dont like fresh potatoes fried...im a spoiled american and when i think of fried potatoes it isnt what fresh potatoes fried come out like. but i gave it a shot anyway. man did it pay off. i fried them until they were just crispy around the edges and then kind of just mixed up two of my seasonings that i like a lot and sprinkeled it on there! they were so good every time i emptied the basket of my fryer into the bowl there werent any left the next time i dumped! the best way to describe them is like the fried potatoes that you get at a fair, or the rodeo, or somewhere like that. the stand where the guy has a drill hooked up to a peeler and is making the twisty fries. just like that except better!!!!

here they are all sliced up in a bowl. i decided to try them with the skins on this time because it take WAY to long to peel all those potatoes. i took this pic when i was already about half way done! i made a HUGE batch so i could give them away!

here they are a cookin'....sizzzzzzzle sizzle

just about done!

the mix of spices i used were Bolner's Fiesta Brand Hamburger Deluxe http://www.fiestaspices.com/?page=bbq_hamburgerdelux, and Golden Chicks "Lotta Zing". http://www.goldenchick.com/ the one and only golden chick we have here in SA sells the stuff by the bottle instead of tiny little packets. it adds just a PINCH of spice to them!

and here is the finished product! man they are so good its really really hard not to eat them all! they are crispy around the edges and soft and moist in the middle. the perfect combo!

homemade ice cream

well i didnt take any pictures because i was so pissed off after i messed up the entire first batch i wasnt in the mood. i bought the kitchenaid icecream maker last week and i decided to wait a few days before i tried it. i thought i was going to get to eat it last night but you have to cool the cream mixture for a full 8 hours before you can add it to the icecream maker. so i brought all the stuff to work (i work for my mother in law) and had the icecream mixing while we ate lunch so it would be ready after we were done eatting! its so damnned hot down here in south texas...that it froze but it was soupy. so i had to put in in the freezer to solid up a bit. well every one was so excited to eat it that they ate it soupy! it was a hit. it is definatly a treat that you should only eat once and a while! get reduced fat to tide you over in between makings. there are supposed to be 19 servings 1/2 cups each. that will get you 230 cal, 16 g carbs, 18 g total fat (!!!), 10 g sat fat, and 140 mg cholostrol! holy crap that is bad for you. but it is sooooooo good!
if you want the recipe let me know i will get it to you! when i make it again i will post pics for all to see!

ok. here are the cupcake pops i tried

here is my crappy little tool box! is really small and doesn't have much but it sure is helpful instead of having it all in drawers or something.

here is another tool to help me get through the night! yummy

i didn't get any pictures of the cake baking. i only started taking pictures after i chopped up the cake into billions of little pieces.

mixing the frosting into the cake

rolling it into the little balls

makes a giant mess. i think that i put too much frosting in though it stuck to everything!

this is after the balls came out of the freezer.

i have all my decorating supplies ready to go. they didn't stay this nice and neat either!

this is the balls after they were shaped into the cupcake shape.

the whole decorating process was not captured because my hands were WAY to covered in crap to stop and take pics. not that it would have mattered. my camera is waterproof and i could have washed it right off...but anyway. here is the finished product!

here is a farm of cupcake pops!

now its time to bag em and tag em

awwwww how cute!

and here is how i figured out how to transport them to work the next day!

now for this next section i think we should all day a prayer for those who lost their lives to my frustration and poor bakewoman-ship (just made that up)

the cupcake pop grave yard...(you hear taps in the background)

i call this the Sparta cupcake pop

thank you very much for the idea and inspiration bakerella you are an amazing lady! <3
